Inspiration

Ah, the condo again. Seems like all I blog about anymore! I am probably the only one who cares, but what the heck :) Well, my mom and I went and worked on it again today, and managed to completely finish my room, and most of the closet. My boyfriend and I put together the last of the shelves, and hung my painting I bought for the living room. It looks awesome! I can't wait to get my couch in there to pull it all together. I posted my inspiration picture for the living room before, so I decided to do a post about all my inspirations for each room in the house.
This is what my poor dining room looked like when everything was first moved in. Since then, I bought some cute candles, vases, and place mats but it's nowhere near finished. I'd like to do a black and white wallpaper on one wall in the dining room, and black chair covers. My accent colors in here will be purple and green.
These are the place mats I got at Target for $1 apiece! I also got one purple and one green Woodwick candle to match.
This is a picture I snapped in a magazine that I just fell in love with. I adore the bright colors and the unexpected pop of orange. So I made my bedroom turquoise (there's a picture of it in the last blog) and painted my closet orange.
It's not finished, obviously, but it has the same effect (I hope!).
This is the color scheme I want for my bedroom. Is this not the most fabulous tent ever?! I want my wedding to look like that, by the way. But for now I'll settle for my room.
I wish I could find my actual inspiration picture for my bathroom, but this will have to do. This one is waaaaaaaaaay better and more complicated than I could do! In the Domino decorating book, there is a small bathroom painted with a trompe l'oeil effect so it looks like a circus tent. It's much simpler, just straight lines, and black & white. It's the coolest bathroom idea I've ever seen! I hope I can pull it off.
Aw, poor little boring bathroom :(
For my hallway, I'd like to paint it black and leave the trim white. It looks so elegant. I love this picture, but I'm sure my hall won't be nearly as fancy :) I wish! My boyfriend takes manual pictures and develops them in a dark room, so a black hall will showcase his work beautifully.
Looks like it needs some love, doesn't it?
The crowning jewel. My closet room/dressing room. This picture of Miley Cyrus' closet is so perfect, I can't even begin to describe. It's my dream closet! I don't like her that much, sadly. She has nice taste in closets, though! I am going to paint mine that same shade of pink, and maybe even put up chandelier decals. I am also looking for a good ottoman and a large mirror to put in there.
It just looks so plain with all the grey! Also, good heavens I have a lot of clothes. Maybe too many. Naaaaaah.
Any ideas or suggestions, friends? I'm open to them all!

Condo Update!

Mom and I worked for about 8 hours on my condo yesterday, so things are coming along nicely. Forgive the horrible camera phone pics on some of these, but I managed to get a few more previews of my continuing work :)
This is a cushion from the antique couch I bought at a thrift store. It is currently getting partially re-upholstered, and I can't wait to see the final result!
Mom put together this shelf last night, and we have another one just like it for the other side of the TV. It's going to have books as well as decorative items on it.
I was so proud of not only putting together this shelf, but also organizing my DVDs by color. haha
I never get tired of my view!
The picture just doesn't do this one justice, but this is my bedroom. It's going to be turquoise, hot pink, and black.

Sick Day Musings

As I have been cooped up in the house all day feeling sick and unhappy, I decided to make a list of things to look forward to! Within the next several months, there are quite a few exciting things happening in the life of Jess :)

The soonest thing I've got coming up is the premiere of Alice in Wonderland that I will be attending with Jaz, in full costume. I ordered it today! This is on March 5th.
After that, the annual Academy Awards or Oscars AND the Jean Paul Gaultier line for Target are both happening! My friend Kate is having an Oscars party, which I will hopefully get to go to, and dress up! These two are on March 7th.

Next comes twinsie's birthday! I'm having fun shopping for her presents online as of late, as it is pretty much like shopping for myself :) I'm thinking she will have something fabulous planned for her b-day, too. It is on March 10th.
After that, I finally get to see a band live that I have literally waited years to see! Muse is coming to the US at long last, and I get to see them in Nashville on March 15th!
Zac Posen's line for Target comes next, debuting on April 25th!
Then comes another big, super exciting one-The Sex And The City 2 movie! Jaz and I are also dressing up for this premiere, and I keep changing my mind about which outrageous outfit I want to wear. Can't wait!
Now this next one is not set in stone yet, but I am DYING for it to happen. I am trying to plan a girly trip to NYC this spring or summer. I want this to happen more than anything! I went last year, and I just couldn't get enough. I have to go back.
Another uncertain event that I almost don't want to mention for fear of jinxing it is the opening of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. The exact date for opening hasn't been announced, but I have been promised by the boyf that he will take me to the opening. Here's hoping it happens!
Yeah, you know I had to use that picture :) I saw him in Equus last time I went to NYC, and it was surprisingly very good. I only went to see Daniel Radcliffe of course, but I ended up loving the play. It was a little awkward seeing him run around naked, though!

Valentine's Day!

I made several sweet treats this week to celebrate the sweetest holiday of them all, Valentine's Day. I made brownies, cake, cinnamon rolls, orange sweet rolls, chocolate chip pancakes, cupcakes, and peach crepes...whew! Baking is one of my favorite things in the whole world. I managed to get a few shots of the treat box I put together for my mom, and one of the giant cupcakes I made.

I dressed up most days this week, too. I had a Mad Hatter's Party themed outfit on for my friend Ashley's birthday on Saturday.

Anna Sui for Target cardigan, Wet Seal Dress, Betsey Johnson tights and necklace, and Charlotte Russe heels

I even like to wear cupcakes on my finger :)

Cupcake Kitchen!

My cupcake themed kitchen is nearly finished! I just need to paint behind the stove, and add a few more cupcake accessories that I bought recently. Here is a little preview of it!
Just one grey square left to paint behind the stove
Cupcakes and fake sweets galore :)
Cupcake fairy!
The bubblegum pink glory of the kitchen

Also, the living room paint is all finished. The decorations are still all over the place, and my couch has not arrived, but the paint looks great.

More to come as it progresses!
